Air Malta from Hamburg

I refer to the article "EU membership prospects improve Air Malta's position" (November 25) about the liberalisation of air services between Malta and Germany.

I have come to Malta twice every year since 1990 and always by Air Malta on a direct flight from Hamburg.

The flights were always on time (except once), the cabin crew friendly and helpful.

So maybe you can imagine that I was quite shocked when I checked Air Malta's homepage a few days ago and found out that as of April, 2003 Air Malta will no longer be operating flights to and from Hamburg.

Moreover, when I book a flight with the German airline Hamburg International, which will fly to Malta next summer, I have to pay an airport surcharge of E55.

In my opinion that is hafna flus! But of course things like that happen when there is no competition.

So, Air Malta - action please! I want to see Hamburg back on your schedule, latest in 2004.
