We are a group of ex-University students who have had the good fortune to be taught by clinical psychologist Bernard Caruana.
Bernard carried out his duties diligently and conscientiously; he was very well versed in all the areas he taught while being also very practical and down-to-earth. Furthermore he was always available for us students whenever we needed his help both in our studies and with our personal difficulties.
It was therefore a great surprise to learn that Bernard is no longer lecturing at University. Our surprise turned to shock when we spoke to Bernard and he told us that this was not his decision. He said that the Head of Department of Psychology and/or the University authorities did not allow him to lecture any longer at University, without giving him any reason or even information about who took the decision.
We feel irked about this situation. It is a great pity that students will not be benefiting from such a person who is not only knowledgeable in his area, but is an all-rounder, full of wisdom, insight and sensitivity towards others. His absence from University is definitely a great loss for the Department of Psychology and the students it services.
