MISCO is organising a seminar by the world's leading authority on mentoring in employment on Thursday between 1.30 and 5 p.m. at the Hilton, St Julian's.

Professor David Clutterbuck will explore:

¤ How coaching and mentoring contribute to recruitment, retention, succession planning, knowledge management and other critical business objectives;

¤ The differences between coaching, mentoring and other forms of one-to-one development;

¤ Current applications of mentoring, from helping young offenders to supporting the lonely executive;

¤ The latest thinking in how mentoring and coaching work; and

¤ How to design and implement successful, sustainable coaching and mentoring programmes.

There will be an extensive question-and-answer session, during which participants are encouraged to raise issues of people development in their organisation.

Professor Clutterbuck brought the concept of structured mentoring programmes to Europe over 25 years ago. He has written six books on mentoring and coaching, with two more in the pipeline, and hundreds of articles.

He is visiting professor at Sheffield Hallam University, where he is a member of the Mentoring and Coaching Research Group.

Mentoring and coaching are among the fastest growing and most effective methods of people development. Mentoring, in particular, is a powerful method for achieving culture change. It has the potential to develop both parties in the relationship.
