'Classic vehicle' measures welcomed

The Federazzjoni Maltija Vetturi Antiki has welcomed the measures announced in this year's budget that introduce more favourable conditions for classic vehicle owners.

The federation said the measures should encourage hitherto mothballed classics to venture out once more to be admired by all and should also entice enthusiasts to import classic vehicles, enriching the local stock.

The FMVA was set up in 1998 and comprises the Historic Motorcycle Club, the Military Vehicles Collectors Club and the Old Motors Club.

Since its inception, the federation has been lobbying for fairer first registration and road licence fees for classic vehicle owners, as found in Europe, the US and other countries.
