Victor Tedesco, president of Hamrun Spartans, and the remaining 14 members of the club committee yesterday resigned from their respective posts.

This move was in the air for the last few days after last Friday Tedesco officially announced that they would not stand in the way of new persons taking control if these can ensure a better future for the financially plagued club.

Last night Tedesco confirmed to The Times that after a thorough evaluation of the situation, also in light of reports that a new group of individuals were pledging to pull Hamrun Spartans out of the current financial crisis, the committee decided to stand down.

As a result of this en bloc resignation Hamrun Spartans have called an extraordinary general meeting to discuss these latest developments.

During this meeting, which will be held on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. at the club premises in Dun Nerik Cordina Perez Street, a new committee will be formed provided that it is approved by the club members present.

On Sunday afternoon, Hamrun Spartans beat Floriana 2-0 in a Premier League match.
