We refer to the item "Too Unprofessional" in "On the Dot" (November 18). We cannot but agree that clipping of the BBC news, and any other programme for that matter, should not be happening.

On the other hand, we have just installed a much needed automated system that goes by inputted time, and in case of live broadcasts, such as the BBC Relays, it is somewhat too rigid and does clip.

We could, of course, have made it easier on the system and on ourselves by replacing the BBC relays with other locally originated material over which we would have full control. We have not chosen the easier-way-out option but need time to customise the automated system.

In our view, the comments by Candidus II about 'unprofessionalism' and 'shame on the radio and the university' are totally uncalled for.

More so, in view of the number of awards collected by Campus FM a couple of days before, during the Broadcasting Authority Awards night at the Manoel Theatre.

These were in recognition of excellence in our station's productions that were nominated and chosen as the best of the crop.
