The Malta Red Cross Society - Gozo Branch has awarded 25 certificates to volunteers in a presentation ceremony at the branch premises.
Minister Giovanna Debono, Professor Lino Cutajar, president of the Malta Red Cross Society, honorary president Professor Fredrick Fenech and Mr Albert Palmier, were among the distinguished guests.
The guests were welcomed by Dr Joseph Rapa, branch chairman, and were shown round the premises. The guests were then addressed by Etienne Micallef, secretary general of the Gozo branch, who highlighted the significance of the ceremony, the training standards achieved by the volunteers and future projections.
The 25 Red Cross volunteers were awarded certificates in ambulance practice, ambulance aid and ambulance technician and basic fire fighting. This was followed by a reception.
The Red Cross Society appealed to those who would like to know more about the society, or who would like to become volunteers, to contact its representatives for more information.
