Moroccan Abdelghani Bahhad took the honours at the opening stage of the 12th Malta International Challenge Marathon which took place in Rabat yesterday. Bahhad, 18, crossed the line first in 37:10, just a few seconds ahead of Englishman David Mansbridge, winner of the past two editions. Brian Magri was third in 38:43 in the 11.1km race. Two local runners will start today's 6km second leg in Birzebbuga leading the women's field. Carmen Hili was first female runner home in 47:41. She was 22nd overall. Catherine Bonnici followed in 49:03. In all, there were 164 finishers yesterday.
