Two men have been put on probation for two years after they pleaded guilty to stealing three bags in Mellieha last June.
Roderick Castello, 22, of Kalkara and Marco Muscat, 18, of Vittoriosa pleaded guilty to stealing the bags which contained mobile phones, wallets, wrist watches, jewellery and other items to the detriment of Chantelle Buttigieg and Mario Edrick on June 19 at about 3.30 p.m.
On handing down judgment, Magistrate Miriam Hayman noted that the stolen goods had been returned.
Police Inspector Angelo Caruana prosecuted.
Dr José Herrera and Dr Edward Zammit Lewis prosecuted.
