The Paris-based Sandro Zerafa Trio will be performing at St James Cavalier in Valletta and giving its audience a taste of its new jazz compositions on Friday at 8 p.m.

The trio, made up of Zerafa on guitar, Emmanuel Brunet on bass and David Georgelet on drums, was formed last May. Its music is representative of the new eclectic wave in today's jazz.

Zerafa was educated in Malta and in 1998 was accepted at the Lyon Conservatory in France where he pursued his jazz studies with guitarist Jean-Louis Almosino and pianist Maio Stantchev.

Zerafa is currently reading a Master's degree in jazz in Paris.

Brunet studied music at the University of Paris and jazz at the 15th district conservatory in Paris with David Patrois.

Georgelet discovered jazz at the age of 15 at the Niort Conservatory. In 1996, he moved to Paris where he studied at the CIM School of Jazz with Georges Paczynski.
