Minister Giovanna Debono last week visited the refurbishment project which has just begun at the general wards at the Gozo Hospital.

The refurbishment, which is estimated to cost around Lm60,000, includes replacing asbestos with soffit at ceilings, painting of walls in attractive and suitable colours, replacing linoleum in corridors, new curtains and sanitary facilities, and structural alterations in treatment rooms and in nurses' quarters.

Other refurbishments carried out at the General Hospital include the enlargement and modernisation of the Outpatients department, CCU, Operating Theatre, Emergency Department and completion of the ward for elderly women.

This project, which forms part of the four-year intensive project for Gozo, is expected to be completed within a few weeks.
