Garden City Project welcomed

The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association welcomed the recently launched Garden City Project and congratulated the government, workers, unions and private entities for "this very much needed initiative" under the private-public partnership scheme.

"This first joint project with some 300 government employees seconded to a consortium of private companies should serve as a model for much needed projects to upgrade Malta's infrastructure both in the interest of locals who will enjoy our environment 365 days a year and visitors to our islands. Embellishing Malta is always one of the MHRA's goals," it said in a statement.

MHRA said it hoped that other similar initiatives would be taken in hand as soon as possible.

"The longer that the projects, which touch on environmental issues, are put off, the bigger will be the problem of putting them right," it said in a statement.
