The European Alliance of Neuromuscular Disorders Associations, in collaboration with the Muscular Dystrophy Group of Malta, is to hold a workshop on 'Duchenne - why are the Danes and the Dutch living past 40?' at the Sol Suncrest Hotel in Qawra on December 6.
In some European countries, men with Duchenne, a condition resulting from muscular dystrophy, are living into their 30s and 40s owing to new approaches to care and management by doctors and other care professionals.
But in other countries of Europe, boys rarely reach 20.
Sufferers will be sharing their experiences on how they live with their condition.
For registration or more information contact the Muscular Dystrophy Group of Malta, 4 Gzira Road, Gzira, or on 21346688 or e-mail ritaborg@onvol.net.
