David Trump, former tutor at the University of Cambridge and ex-curator of archaeology at the National Museum of Malta, will be leading a site interpretation lecture at Ggantija Temples on Wednesday, November 27, as part of the Mediterranea festival, being held in Gozo from November 22 to 29.
Dr Trump is considered to be one of the pioneering scholars of Maltese prehistory.
He served as curator of archaeology between 1958 and 1963. His main contribution in that period was the excavation of the Skorba Temple, which advanced knowledge of the islands' prehistoric sequence and, through radiocarbon, its dating.
The Xaghra Circle dig brought him back to Gozo annually from 1986 to 1994.
Dr Trump has written a number of books, most recently Malta: Prehistory and Temples, but also excavation reports on Skorba and on Sardinian sites.
He is one of many internationally renowned figures to be brought by the Teatru Astra to take part in Mediterranea.
University archaeology students are being offered reductions for Dr Trump's site lecture.
