A magistrate has ruled there are enough reasons for the indictment of a public officer charged with accepting bribes at the airport.

Magistrate Joseph Cassar ruled for the indictment of the officer, whose name and designation cannot be published by court order, who is pleading not guilty to forging seals, stamps or other government marks on October 21 at 5 p.m.

He is also pleading not guilty to receiving bribes, to two counts of forgery, to giving false information to the authorities, to receiving someone else's passport, to forging a passport and to forging an immigration document.

The officer also stands charged with committing a crime he was duty-bound to prevent.

The case continues.

Police Inspectors Jeffrey Cilia and Neville Xuereb are prosecuting.

Dr Raphael Fenech Adami is appearing for the accused.
