The Coastline Hotel was yesterday presented with the Thomson Gold Award for best hotel in the four-star category out of those listed in Thomson's Mediterranean region brochure.

It was the fourth time in nine years that the hotel had won the award, Island Hotels Group operations director Winston Zahra said.

The Coastline also won the Thomson Gold Award for four-star hotels for the summer and winter season, while The Waterfront Hotel won the Gold Award for the same category in the winter season, hotel general manager Sonny Portelli said.

Hilton Malta won the Thomson Gold Award for best five-star hotel for the summer season, while Thomson Services Malta Ltd won the award for sustainable tourism.

The awards, which were presented at the Savoy Hotel in London yesterday, are the results of customer satisfaction surveys filled in by Thomson guests on their return flight.

The Westin Dragonara Resort and Casino also won the World Travel Awards 2002 for Europe's leading resort casino, the travel magazine Travel Weekly said.
