Anna Contardi to conduct in-training seminar

Equal Partners Foundation and Dar tal-Providenza in collaboration with the Programme for Inclusive Education at the University of Malta are hosting Anna Contardi, who will be conducting a seminar, titled "Ragazzi in Gamba! Stepping out in the adult world" at the university.

Equal Partners Foundation is a young, parent-run, non-profit making organisation providing support programmes for adults and children with disability and/or learning difficulties. At present, it has over 110 member families who make use of its services and the families who are most in need have their programmes either partially or totally sponsored.

The seminar is one of the foundation's main in-training events for this year. It has been organised in liaison with Dar tal-Providenza and in collaboration with the Programme for Inclusive Education.

Anna Contardi is among others the Social Work Co-coordinator of the Italian Association of Persons with Down Syndrome in Rome. She is also the creator of a very successful programme for the education towards social and emotional autonomy of persons with disability.

She sustains that the adolescent with disability and learning difficulty has two difficulties: one is that which stems from their impairments while the other finds its origin in our fear and the ambivalent environment we create. She is often one of the keynote speakers in major conferences.

The two-day seminar starts on Friday. Sunday is reserved for Equal Partners and Dar tal-Providenza professionals.

The seminar, sponsored by Xerox, the Osborne Hotel and the University of Malta, will be conducted in Italian with parallel translation into English.

For further information about the seminar call at 52, Market Street, Floriana, or else contact Equal Partners on tel. 21 250400, fax 21250397, e-mail: epf@waldonet.net.mt
