Hunger strike ends
A hunger strike by female inmates at Corradino prisons has ended, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said in parliament yesterday.
The women were protesting that a Ghanaian female prisoner who had tested positive for HIV had been returned to the prisons.
The minister said in reply to a parliamentary question by Mrs Dolores Cristina (PN) that the prison authorities were taking the necessary precautions but one should not isolate a person more than was necessary.
