Bank of Valletta yesterday inaugurated the eighth in the series of retrospective exhibitions at its head office foyer in Sliema.

The exhibition, featuring 45 exhibits by Pawl Carbonaro, was introduced by its curator, Emmanuel Fiorentino and inaugurated by President Guido de Marco and bank chairman Joseph Zahra.

"Besides focusing on Malta's prominent artists, our exhibitions are well documented with authentic source material that will serve as a basis for future accounts of Malta's contemporary artistic culture," Dr Zahra said.

The exhibition offers samples from Carbonaro's wide repertoire, which includes portraits and still-lifes as well as landscapes and abstracts, for which he is best known.

Since his first exhibition, together with his father Hugo, in 1968, Carbonaro has held several personal exhibitions in Malta, Germany and the UK, besides participating in collective ones in Malta, Spain, Italy, France and Switzerland. Featuring a total of 45 exhibits, the exhibition will be open to the general public between today and December 20.
