Fishing boat drifts to Malta

A fishing boat with seven Tunisians on board was yesterday morning escorted into Marsaxlokk after it drifted to Malta when it got caught up in the stormy weather, the police said.

The boat was spotted in the Dingli area in the early hours of the morning and the authorities were immediately informed, the police said.

Once the boat was escorted to Marsaxlokk the authorities started trying to identify the crew on board.

After preliminary investigations, police established that the boat had left Tunisia on Sunday, but due to rough seas they found themselves in difficulties and were swept to Malta.
