Maltese artist and photographer Joe Smith has won the Overseas Fashion and Illustrative Category in the Master Photographer of the Year Awards 2002, beating off the competition of over 1,600 entries.

Twenty-seven awards were presented at the recent ceremony in Coventry, attended by over 350 delegates from all over the world.

The Master Photographers Association was founded in 1952. Membership is restricted to professional photographers.

The print which won the award for Joe Smith is 'Synchro' and shows three male dancers from the Egribianco Dance Company in action at a dress rehearsal at the Manoel Theatre earlier this year.
