The government' policy for Gozo in the past four years has produced unprecedented results, Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told a press conference on Wednesday.

Gozo had registered its lowest levels of unemployment and the highest levels of Maltese and foreign visitors, clear proof that the government's policies are yielding results, he said.

Giving an overview of the government's performance in Gozo in the past year, Minister Giovanna Debono said that her ministry's top priorities were investment in education and health sectors.

Mrs Debono said that over Lm110,000 has been invested this year to improve the infrastructure and facilities at Gozo General Hospital. In the past four years, over Lm800,000 was invested in an embellishment and modernisation project for schools. A Gozo centre of the Malta College of Art, Science and Technology (MCAST) was also opened.

Mrs Debono outlined improvements in social services, culture, sports and communications, while also noting that Lm750,000 was spent to rebuild arterial and minor roads.
