Dingli council has called upon the government to reverse their decision to introduce a one-way traffic system in Borg Olivier Street, Rabat, and to re-open the street in both directions as early as possible.

Protesting against the new system, the council said the decision adversely affected all the residents of Dingli and the residents of Buskett within the locality's boundaries.

The council said Borg Olivier Street was an arterial road and the one-way system caused frustration owing to delays from congestion in the streets parallel to it. These streets were not intended for heavy traffic.

The council said that the trial period has resulted in failure and the 3,300 Dingli residents cannot accept the injustice meted out to them when their request was dismissed outright.

The council argued that if Borg Olivier Street was wide enough for buses and coaches 24 hours a day, there was no valid reason to prohibit private cars from doing the same.
