The proprietor of Fuego Salsa Bar at St Julian's and Qawra yesterday filed a judicial protest in the Civil Court against Joseph Mizzi.

Entertainments Limited claimed it had registered a trademark and logo for "Fuego Malta's Leading Salsa Bar", in terms of which the name and the logo were exclusively reserved in its favour.

The name "Fuego" and the logo had been used by the company for a number of years.

But Mizzi, who was the owner or operator of the shop "Art at Home" in Attard was illegally and abusively making use of the company's logo.

Mizzi was making use of this logo in advertisements for his own business, and he had even set up a billboard in which the name "Fuego" and the logo were used to advertise his own shop.

Entertainments Limited claimed it had no connection with Mizzi's shop nor with the furniture sold by Mizzi, and that it was sustaining damages as a result of Mizzi's actions.

The company concluded its protest by holding Mizzi liable in damages and calling on him to stop making use of its name and logo.

Dr Joseph Giglio signed the protest.
