The Employment Training Corporation struck off 756 people from the employment register this year up to August, figures tabled in parliament yesterday show.

Social Policy Minister Lawrence Gonzi said the biggest number of strike offs, 265, involved people who did not attend job interviews. A further 219 were struck off when inspectors found they were working while also registering for work.

The information was requested by Labour MP Chris Agius.
