Dr Edward Mercieca

I was shocked to learn of the passing away of Dr Edward Mercieca. He knew that he was suffering from a serious illness but his death came quite unexpectedly early. 'Dwardu', as he was affectionately known, was a pleasant colleague and a good friend.

I was shocked to learn of the passing away of Dr Edward Mercieca.

He knew that he was suffering from a serious illness but his death came quite unexpectedly early.

'Dwardu', as he was affectionately known, was a pleasant colleague and a good friend. Above all he was a gentleman.

He was a good diagnostic radiologist but his main passion was diagnostic ultrasound. Although ultrasound was being introduced in the obstetrics and gynaecological field, it was Dwardu who took time to learn and explore this non-invasive diagnostic technique and introduced diagnostic ultrasound into St Luke's Hospital for general diagnostic purposes.

He was keen and always ready to share his extensive knowledge and experience with any medical staff who wished to learn about ultrasound.

His life revolved around his family, which he loved dearly. His sudden passing away has left a large void within his family.

He is sadly missed by his friends and colleagues, who always knew him as a real gentleman.
