Under the European Union's programme in education, Socrates/Comenius, grants can now be awarded to Maltese teachers or other categories of staff working in the school education sector for in-service training. Staff may participate in in-service training courses lasting between one and four weeks being held abroad. For foreign language teachers, the courses should take place in a country where the target language is spoken and taught.

The application form can be downloaded from the Website http://home.um.edu.mt/socrates/comenius.html. The Comenius database can be consulted at the European Commission's Website: http://193.14.218.19:81/CourseManagement/ASP/CourseSearch.asp. The deadline to hand in the application form, together with the acceptance letter from the course co-ordinator, is November 15.
