We still have too many consumers who wrongly assume that all they have to do is write to me and I will sort everything out for them. For the umpteenth time I will reiterate that, although I get directly involved in many cases, it is impossible for me to do so in all cases.
This column operates under specific terms and conditions which are published in bold print in every column. Unfortunately many consumers use this column without bothering to read them - hence the misconceptions.
However, to be positive, I would rather drive the point home by focusing on cases where consumers read, and abide by, the column's terms and conditions.
In an attempt to encourage consumers to chase the progress of their cases with the suppliers while in the process copying me in, from time to time, I publish the concluding letters in some of the many positively concluded cases where consumers follow the column's terms and conditions.
I received these concluding letters from BDS Ltd and their customer:
Thank you for the note dated April 16.
Kindly note that this complaint has now been resolved and any charges mentioned by our client have been reversed accordingly.
Our client was supposed to inform you about this. To date, we have not received any further correspondence related to this issue.
Please feel free to contact me should you require any further clarification. (Pierre Sammut, manager, Finance & Administration)
Here follows a satisfied customer's letter:
This is just a short note to say that the matter with BDS has been positively concluded. Their accounts department has accepted that there was a mistake on their side. They reversed the charges and issued a 'zero' statement.
I have no doubt that the influence of your column has put some pressure on them to act ...(Richard J. Caruana)
While thanking BDS Ltd for their co-operation I encourage you to chase the progress of your cases while in the process copying me in.
