Two men were yesterday charged with aiding and abetting immigrants to enter or leave the island.

John Bugeja, 36, of Sliema, and Ferhat Guellouma, 50, originally of Algeria and now living in Birkirkara pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting immigrants to enter or leave the island and conspiring to commit a crime on and before October 13.

Bugeja alone was also charged with relapsing.

They were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspector Sandro Zarb prosecuted.

Dr Michael Sciriha appeared for Bugeja and Dr Frank Cassar for Guellouma.
