AD calls for moratorium on tuna farms

Alternattiva Demokratika has called on the government to declare a moratorium on the development of new tuna farms in Malta.

AD said it supported the call of a number of environmental non-governmental organisations for a moratorium on the development of tuna farms in the Mediterranean region.

In its manifesto, AD is calling for a pan Mediterranean initiative against all types of fishing which are depleting fish stocks.

While proposing greater support for traditional fishing, AD is also insisting on greater controls on fish farms and tuna farming.
