I refer to the article "Minister lays stress on food hygiene" (September 26).

The photographs carried with your write-up clearly show two employees handling meat cuts and chicken products with their bare hands.

Could not the processing company provide them with gloves?

So much for food hygiene. I am sure that the company, having invested Lm500,000 to modernise, can afford them.

It would be interesting to know whether the visiting minister noted this lapse. Maybe since public health falls under a different ministry, it was felt inappropriate to comment.

Can the ministry of health carry out an inspection to see if there are any more lapses? Let us have its reaction.
