A Marsascala man of Syrian origin was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for four years for the violent indecent assault of a Japanese woman.
Mohammed Elbozidi, 27, pleaded guilty to keeping the woman against her will and slightly injuring her in Dragonara Road, Paceville on October 6 at about 1 a.m.
He also pleaded guilty to offending public morals and breaching the conditions of a previous release.
Magistrate Antonio Mizzi warned Elbozidi that if it happened again, he would order his deportation, irrespective of the fact that he was married to a Maltese woman.
Police Inspectors Robert Gregory and Mario Tonna prosecuted.
Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for Elbozidi.
