Fourteen child abuse cases involving 26 children, were reported to the police in the first nine months of this year, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said yesterday. He said 13 persons had so far being arraigned in court.

The minister said that of the reported cases, two involved battering, there was one case of corruption of minors, one case of violent indecent assault, seven cases of defilement of minors (including four rape cases), two cases of child neglect and a case of "assault against moral honour."

The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Dr Adrian Vassallo (MLP).
