The University of Malta through the Socrates Office welcomed 120 European students that are currently participating in the Socrates-Erasmus programme for the first semester. A similar group will join them in the second semester.
An orientation programme was organised throughout the day to help the students integrate themselves fully within the University of Malta. Dr Joseph Mifsud, Socrates office manager inaugurated this programme with a brief welcome to all students.
This was followed by an introductory session by Patricia Camilleri, principal communications officer, and an informative session by Mary Anne Agius, Counselling Services.
The programme included several other information sessions by various entities at University, including the Socrates Office, the University Student Council (KSU) and NSTS. A one-hour campus tour, including a visit at the University Sports Complex was included too.
The number of students participating in the Erasmus programme has been increasing. Plans are currently under way in all participating countries, including Malta, to celebrate the one millionth Erasmus participant on October 25.
