F.O.I. environment Committee chairman Godwin C. Micallef held a meeting with Professor Eckhard Willing, director of the Federal Environment Agency in Germany, who was part of the EU Commission monitoring mission visiting Malta to hold the peer review for the Environment Chapter.
The main focus of this meeting related to issues concerning waste management.
Later that same week, Mr Micallef accompanied by Mary Gaerty, also from the FOI Environment Committee, attended a discussion session held for environment stakeholders with all the EU Experts of the Commission Monitoring Mission.
This plenary meeting discussed aspects of industrial pollution prevention and control, discharge of dangerous substances into the aquatic environment, the SEVESO Directive, and waste and nature protection.
