You report CNI chairman Prof. A. Leone Ganado as saying that CNI should be provided with a secretariat and information officers and that "this will be the first counter-balancing step to the Malta-EU Information Centre".
His statement gives the misleading im-pression that the Malta-EU Information Centre and CNI have the same role but are just on opposite sides. This is not the case.
The MIC is an information centre, not a pro-EU membership campaign. So much so that high-ranking CNI officials regularly make use of MIC services, as they have a right. This, in itself, is evidence of the reliability of the information disseminated by MIC.
MIC information is available to both camps and to the public, since everyone has a right to be informed, irrespective of whether they are inclined to favour or oppose membership.
