Security guards working at Malta International Airport are to have a new roster, with each employee working for 34 hours a week on a part-time basis, the General Workers' Union said yesterday.

The new working hours form part of a set of new proposals presented by the management of J.F. Security to the union following industrial action at the airport last Saturday.

The union was protesting about the workers' working conditions.

In a statement yesterday, the union said that with the new proposals, these part-time workers would be entitled to 14 days leave and seven days sick leave. They were previously not entitled to any leave.

The proposals are due to be discussed with employees of J.F. Security this evening.
