Our family would like to thank publicly Warden G248 and the Sliema police for their prompt action on September 20 at 3.30 p.m.
While I was at work in Mattew Pulis Street, a car reversed into mine (which was well parked at the side of the road in a place used everyday by people working in this area). The impact of this vehicle, a Mercedes, pushed my car in turn into another behind. Serious damage was done, but the driver drove off immediately.
Traffic Warden G248 took down the number of the car and immediately informed Sliema police who traced the owner of the runaway car and brought it to the police station.
We have only one car and use it every day. Thanks to the prompt action of the warden and the police, we will now be able to repair our car and minimise the cost and inconvenience we would have had.
Since the works began at Tigne Point, parking has become a problem. At one time, we found one car window smashed and the radio stolen. Colleagues and people in this area have suffered damage to their vehicles. It would seem that thieves profit from the parking chaos and general confusion to steal hub caps, radios etc.
