Nature Trust (Malta) is concerned about the environmental impact of ongoing road works at Burmarrad, especially the mounds of sand and discarded stone slabs left on the road margins which are smothering the lush roadside vegetation at the end of Arkata valley.

In addition, fields on one side of Burmarrad Road verging on Ghajn Rihana valley are being used as a makeshift store of building material.

NT called on the authorities to ensure that road contractors are accountable for any damage wreaked to the natural environment by their operations.
