I fully agree with what Labour MP C. Abela expressed in The Times (September 19) that arrogance rules supreme at MIA, and this not only by the directors but also by managers.
When the employees of MIA were to decide whether to go back to government employment or remain with MIA after the collective agreement was signed, I contacted the manager for human resources. I asked to be informed under which salary scale I was to be included, and this to help me decide as I was nearing retiring age. No need to say that he never even bothered to acknowledge my letter.
We, the employees who opted to return to government employment, are still awaiting arrears due to us as a result of the new collective agreement.
The attitude of the managers towards the employees is so arrogant that I was constrained to quit my employment at the Meteorological Office, MIA, where I had worked contentedly for the past 42 years, 11 months prior to my retirement.
