Dr Lilian Azzopardi was appointed a member of the Quality Pharmacy Systems Committee of the Community Pharmacy Practice Section of the International Federation of Pharmacists (FIP) to harmonise international quality systems in Pharmacy.

Dr Azzopardi was allocated the task of presenting a compilation of the quality systems from reports submitted by countries, members of FIP, to be presented at the Sydney meeting next year.

Dr Azzopardi also presented results of research carried out by the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Malta jointly with Professor Anthony Serracino Inglott and Maurice Zarb Adami at the Annual FIP meeting in Nice last month.

Dr Azzopardi is internationally known in the field of Pharmacy for establishing tools for the validation of Community Pharmacy practice.

At the same meeting in Nice Dr Azzopardi met the representative of the Pharmaceutical Press, the publishers of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, to discuss her new book on model questions meant for students who are preparing to take registration examinations after undergoing the in-service training programmes in Europe.

The book is also expected to be of interest to students taking Pharmacy State board examinations in the US. The book is written in collaboration with Professor Serracino Inglott and Mr Zarb Adami and Professor Steve Hudson of Stratclyde University and Dr Sam Salek from Cardiff University. It will carry a forward by Dr Henri Manasse, vice-presindent and CEO of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and a preface by Professor Roger Ellul Micallef, University Rector.
