Several other aircraft arrived in Malta yesterday for the Vodafone 10th Malta International Airshow being held at Malta International Airport today and tomorrow.

Among the new types of aircraft taking part in this year's airshow is a pair of German Mig-29s and a brand new Airbus 318 which is yet to go in service.

The Merlin, a large helicopter from the UK will also be participating for the first time in Malta, performing a flying display too.

Two parks will be used this year for the static display, with one of the parks displaying British and Maltese aircraft that depict the aviation history for the past 60 years since the George Cross was awarded to Malta.

The culmination of the airshow today will be the commemoration of the award of the George Cross, followed by a fly past by Armed Forces of Malta aircraft which will be immediately followed by the aerobatic display of the famous UK Red Arrows team at around 5 p.m.

The airshow will be open today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To avoid traffic congestion, the public is urged to make use of public transport being provided for the airshow with a shuttle service from Valletta City Gate to MIA and vice-versa.

Red Arrow pilots currently participating in the airshow will be visiting the Bay Street Artisan Market today at 2 p.m. to sign autographs and take photos with aircraft enthusiasts.
