Matthew Galea to play for Woolongong in Australia

Former Hamrun Spartans and Malta Under-21 international midfielder Matthew Galea will be playing for Woolongong Wolves this season after reaching an agreement with the Australian National League Club last week.

The Australian championship kicked off on Friday but Galea, 24, was not in the Woolongong squad for the match against Marconi which finished 2-2.

He still has to recover fully from a hip injury but is likely to make his debut for Woolongong next Friday when his team takes on Parramatta Power in the second match of the National League.

Galea holds dual citizenship. In Malta, he had brief stints with Valletta and Birkirkara in the summer of 2000 before moving to Hamrun with whom he spent two seasons. He then returned 'down under'.
