The Sunday shooting programme at the Malta Shooting Federation ranges in Bidnija consisted of a regular trap competition on 50 clays and a 25-clay barrage final. The LLMA Trophy was at stake.
Joe Attard, still jubilant after his All Malta Open triumph a few weeks ago, shot a 25 straight in the competition stage and led John Marmara (46), Frans Pace (46) and Nicky Carabott (46) to the final on 48 hits.
Eugene Borg and Alfred Falzon occupied the last two places in the six-man final on 44 clays each after a shoot-off which saw Stephen Vella ousted from the decisive phase.
Pace and Marmara stole the limelight in the barrage. Both gathered a timely rhythm and shot straights to annul the fruitless effort of Attard to retain his advantage.
Pace and Marmara finished on a 71-score. The shoot-off went Pace's way with Marmara settling for second place.
Carabott was third with Attard slipping to fourth after missing five clays in the barrage.
