Juniors off to Palermo

The Gordon Asciak Tennis School, sponsored by Eurosport and situated at the Marsa Sports Club, is once again organising a tennis trip for its junior players to Palermo.

The tennis school will be participating in a friendly tournament against TC Palermo 2. The group left Malta on Thursday morning and will be returning on Monday afternoon.

In all, 16 juniors will be making the trip. These are: Matthew Asciak, Simon Camilleri, Matthew Hyzler, Jamie Dunbar Smyth, George Baker, Domenic Galea, Zac Muscat, Jean Paul Schembri, Omar Sudzuoka, Richard Pugliesevich, J.J. Micallef, Steffie Sullivan, Elaine Genovese, Erika Azzopardi, Christine Dalli and Nicola Pugliesevich.

This is the third trip the Gordon Asciak Tennis School is organising this year. The first was in April to Palermo when the results obtained were the best ever for the school.

Last month, four of the best juniors trained for a week in Barcelona, Spain, where the training was of the highest standard.

Such trips are proving to be very fruitful for the young players and one can see this by the results obtained at local junior tournaments where nearly all events were won by players attending the Gordon Asciak Tennis School.

Recently, the school organised a mini-tennis tournament for its youngest players. The aim here was to spot new and promising talent. The coaches were extremely pleased with the level of play and are sure that some of the players will go far. The next coaching term will commence today week and all those interested can collect the application form from the Marsa Sports Club reception.
