Publishers Enterprises Group has just published a book in Maltese about bioethical issues by Maurice N. Cauchi.

Bijoetika fl-Ewropa tal-lum provides a comprehensive survey of the status of bioethics today, with emphasis on recent developments in this rapidly expanding area.

In particular, the book explains the Council of Europe's Convention on Bioethics. Chapters deal with genetics, the embryo, pregnancy, children and old age, as well as the relationship between patients and health care professionals.

The book is aimed at laymen as well as students and practitioners.

After graduating in medicine from the University of Malta, Prof. Cauchi furthered his studies in London before taking up a lecturing post at the University of Melbourne for many years.

Prof. Cauchi is chairman of the Bioethics Consultative Committee and represents Malta on the Bioethics Committee of the Council of Europe.
