A number of national activities are to be held to mark European Day of Parents and School on October 8.

The activities are being organised by the Office of Review in the Education Ministry.

Every school will also organise an activity in the community on the occasion, which is the first of its kind.

The aim of the day, which was established by the European Association of Parents, is for parents and teachers to recognise the importance of working together for the good of the children.

The School Councils Association became a full member of the European Association of Parents during a recent conference in Bilboa, Spain.

Together, the member associations are drafting a programme of activities for the event.
