Police station for Pietà

Two measures were announced on Sunday by Pietà mayor Malcolm Mifsud: a new police station to be opened in Hookham Frere Street, and a temporary dropping off system for traffic outside St Luke's Hospital.

Dr Mifsud was speaking at an activity organised to mark Pietà Day, held in the marina gardens.

The council has bought the lease on the property to be used as a police station, which will be opened as soon as an agreement has been concluded with the Home Affairs Ministry.

He also said that a new system was introduced this week to allow drivers to drop off passengers at the gate of St Luke's Hospital, which would reduce the danger to pedestrians, and would also avoid holding up the rest of the traffic.
