A Zurrieq man was yesterday fined Lm200 for the possession of cannabis resin.
Joseph Camilleri, 29, was however found not guilty of the possession and trafficking of heroin on and before March 1, 2001.
Magistrate Noel Cuschieri noted that the police had relied on the testimony of a man named Mark Mizzi who claimed he bought drugs from the defendant twice.
But Mizzi did not specify when he had bought the drugs and it was not clear whether the time period fell within the parameters of the date given in the charge sheet.
Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
Dr Joseph Giglio and Dr Franco Debono appeared for the defendant.
