Seventeen karozzin drivers yesterday filed a judicial letter in the Civil Court calling on the justice minister to repeal the regulations introducing horse aprons because it was tantamount to cruelty.

The cab drivers claimed the Control of Solid Discharge by Horses (General Application) Regulations, amending the Local Councils Act, should be repealed.

They claimed the legal notice was not in line with the Animal Welfare Act and, in default, they would have to take further action according to the law.

Dr Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici signed the letter.
